GMAT Test Preparation:
MATHS FUNDAMENTALS:
Level: Early stages of preparation or weak at Maths
This is for the Maths phobic and for those that haven’t done any Maths since SAT’s or GCSE’s etc. and have been using a calculator to hide! We cover all the basics of Algebra, Geometry, Co-Ordinate geometry and all of Arithmetic from Fractions and Exponents to Probability. There will be worked examples and lots of practice at a pace that is suitable for those attending.We will go through the theory until you are happy!
QUANT REVIEW:
Level: For all, the pace will be fast as we will cover all the material in 3hrs, therefore it is advisable if you do not have a good base in Maths that you have a look through the theory in a book to refresh yourself with the main concepts. After registering for this course there will be some pre-course material to go through.
The course is a comprehensive run through all the theory tested in the Quant section. There is a specific focus on the areas of theory that are essential to the exam and those that the test makers use repeatedly. Subjects like Algebra, Exponents and Geometry are taught with worked examples on the board, whilst others are illustrated best using real questions, i.e Ratio, Permutations and Distance Speed Time etc. The course is designed to bring everyone up to speed so that you can maximise your preparation and make the most of our technique focused courses. The majority of the time in our 700+ and 800 courses is spent dealing with technique and tricks which can only be used if the individual has a solid grasp of the theory.
700+ SERIES:
Level: MUST be competent at Maths and have control of the necessary theory and have a good command of the English Language. Either from having taken a real test with 500+ or taking our Quant review.
There are 4 parts to the 700+ and each session has 3 clear aims:
1) Preparation: for every type of question that can be asked for each topic, i.e for co-ordinate geometry there are multiple question types of varying complexity from 500-800. We want to expose you to them so that there are no surprises on exam day!
2) Technique: The GMAT is NOT a Maths and Verbal competition! It tests logic and your ability to play their game under pressure. As a result our main focus is on technique. To provide you with the ability to find different ways around questions. The textbook approach is rarely effective.
3) Speed: The exam is timed and so we focus on making you fast, really fast. More people do not get the score that they need due to time pressure or ineffective timing than any other reason. Being fast and accurate is essential and helps build confidence.
(N.B. There is a balance between Quant and Verbal, but the Verbal is partially covered with homework so that we don’t waste valuable classroom time watching you read a comprehension passage! The techniques are discussed in detail.)
800 COURSE:
Level: For 3 groups of individuals, those with an official (the diagnostic score does not count) scores 600-720, anyone who has completed the 700+ series and those who have satisfied our tutors that they are at that level (at the tutors discretion) This is to keep the standard of the course sufficiently high for everyone to benefit.
The course has 2 clear aims:
1) To expose you to the challenging questions that take you above the 700 mark. To prepare you to get the score.
2) Technique and speed. To handle these questions you need to have both and we simulate the level with a mixture of questions under duress! To promote accuracy.
INTENSIVE COURSE:
Level: For all. There is Preparation to be completed both Quant and Verbal theory and questions before the course starts. To get you up to speed, to make sure you make the most of the course and to ensure parity among the group. Included in the price of the course is an extra session of your choice to focus on any weaknesses i.e a Data Sufficiency course.
The course is designed to be complete in terms of content. It is intense and is intended to give momentum to your preparation. Ideal for those with deadlines or those with packed schedules. We increase the level during the course to take you from 500 to 700+. The focus is on technique and speed throughout. There are worked examples to cement the theory but the majority of the course is spent tackling GMAT questions so that you are ready to take the exam.
PRIVATE TUITION:
Level: For all.
Everyone is different and whilst for many the classroom environment of group course is preferable as it is cost effective and the collaborative environment helps. There are many that prefer a 1 on 1 environment. Our tutors are available for one off sessions or packages of Private tuition. They will tailor a program to your needs or set one for you. Prior preparation and homework are essential to maximising you lessons.
OTHER COURSES:
VERBAL 800: Only the hardest verbal questions.
ARITHMETIC PROBLEM AREAS: Probability, Combination and Ratio are dealt with.
GEOMETRY AND ALGEBRA PROBLEMS: 30-60-90, co-ordinate geometry slopes etc
DATA SUFFICIENCY COURSE: Very few people like it, but after the course it will be your favourite part! No pens required!
GRAMMAR FUNDAMENTALS: A sentence correction work shop.
ADMISSIONS ADVICE AND TUTORIAL: Advice on which schools to pick, how to use your essays to your advantage and information on what each school is looking for.
